On September 16, a week before Rosh Hashana, something very significant happened in Israel. An ancient road in Jerusalem was opened up called the Pilgrimage Road. It is a significant archaeological site that was used by Jewish pilgrims 2000 years ago. It runs approximately 600 metres from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple Mount. It was the road that people would use to ascend up Mount Zion to go to the Temple. Attending this occasion was Benjamin Netanyahu, Marco Rubio and US Ambassador Mike Huckabee. The significance of this event cannot be overestimated and is speaking of what is taking place in the spirit realm. We are on a pilgrimage to Mount Zion!
On this road, they found some significant things that speak to this pilgrimage we are on. First they found coins and jars hidden with food in them. This speaks of provision that is coming to the people of God in this season. There was also a stop along the road where a platform was built for prophets to speak. 5786 will be a year of significant revelation being released that will touch the whole world. This is the year of the prophet who ascends the mountain of the Lord to receive heaven’s instructions.
The Pilgrimage Road begins at the Pool of Siloam. This is the place where the eyes of the blind man were opened as he washed. Expect the eyes of many to be opened this year as the scales come off their eyes. Suddenly they will see the way opened to the hill of the Lord.
This road is always ascending upwards towards the mountain of the Lord. The word “ascend” in Hebrew is also translated “to burn”. The mountain of God is always associated with fire. This year, a fresh burning is coming to the people of God. With the burning there will be a zeal like never before to draw near to the Throne of God, to gaze on our Saviour and to be filled with His baptism of fire. With the baptism of fire comes massive numbers of salvations, miracles and the awe of God which will permeate the atmosphere as in the Book of Acts.
Psalm 24 says this:
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His Holy Place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart who does not lift up his soul to an idol, or swear by what is false.
He will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek your Face, O God of Jacob.
In this Psalm, the generation of Jacob is highlighted. In Genesis 32 we find Jacob wrestling with the Angel of the Lord and after an exhausting night, he is given a new name. (verse 28)
And he (the angel) said, “Thy name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel for as a prince has thou more power with God and with men and has prevailed.
For those who have felt exhausted from the wrestling, there is coming power with God and with men and sudden breakthrough.
It is significant that Jacob called the place of wrestling “Peniel” which means “The Face of God”. The word “face” here in Hebrew is plural but is used in a singular fashion. This year will be the year the “faces” of God are revealed to those who ascend the mountain. The full force of the Trinity will be evidenced as we go up. God is drawing near.
The other meaning of the word ‘face’ in Hebrew means “the part that turns”.
The last season has felt like a wrestling with God. But now we are entering into a season where He turns his face towards us! The priestly blessing that has been sung over the entire world includes the prayer “May the Lord turn His face towards you”. This blessing is coming to the people of God in 5786. He is turning His face. This is the year where God draws near and when He does, His full attention is on you.
What does it require of us? When Moses was on the mountain of God, something supernatural appeared. A bush that was not consumed as it burned. But Moses had to turn his face towards it to hear what God intended to do. That fire that Moses looked to see showed him his identity and propelled him to do the impossible.
God is calling His people in 5786 to take the Pilgrimage Road to ascend the hill of the Lord. God is turning His face toward all of mankind in this season. This year, along the road, the awe and wonder of that look will draw all men unto Him. Expect the unexpected. When God shows his face, everything changes.
